Water Project - Phases II, III, IV
With completion of Phase I for immediate needs - cooking, drinking, hygiene - we can commence planning for subsequent phases.
Phase II - Reservoir
This phase includes a larger multi-stage reservoir at the bottom of the ravine behind their village to collect the necessary water volume for irrigation throughout the entire year. It includes a primary basin or stage dug out of a natural depression in the ravine, an overflow area damned with a 25 fit. (7.5) wall, and silt retaining walls. Additional efforts include reforestation, packing the basin, and promotion of natural vegetation to retain the slopes surrounding the basin.
As of January 2007, all work on this phase is completed. All that remains is for the reforested trees above the reservoir to mature, the vegetation to fully spread thus lininng the reservoir slopes, and the basin to compact naturally over time with the weight of water from a heavy rainy season. If the basin does not compact, then artificial lining will be required to prevent water loss due to the highly porous sandy soil.

Phase IV - Irrigation
This phase includes an eventual irrigation system for the crops and orchards. We e need to measure the resulting water volumes and overall efficiency of Phase I and assess the success of Phase III before we can accurately plan and cost out remaining portions Phases II and IV not already complete.
